Therma was built from a personal problem, not a market opportunity.
For years, I tracked everything except the thing that mattered most: how I actually felt. This is the story of why that finally changed.
The founder
I'm Omar Rantisi. Detroit-born, Dubai-raised, UCLA dual degree in Math and Sociology. I've spent the last decade living inside contradictions: touring DJ with a sleep schedule that makes therapists wince, competitive bodybuilder obsessed with metrics no one else cares about, founder of multiple companies before this one. The thread connecting all of it: I was tracking everything except the only thing that determined whether any of it would last.
Why I built Therma
I had an Oura ring. I had Apple Health. I had a HRV chest strap I wore during workouts. I had a spreadsheet of every meal I ate for three years. And I still couldn't tell you why some Tuesdays I woke up steady and other Tuesdays I woke up unraveled. The data was complete. The narrative was missing.
Every journaling app I tried failed in the same way: a blank page that stared back at me. Every mood tracker logged data I never went back to. Every AI chatbot felt like talking to a wall that was very confident it understood me but didn't.
Therma is the tool I wished existed. A 60-second daily mood check-in. One precise AI question that adapts to what I said yesterday. A weekly insight reveal that connects my mood to the data I'm already tracking. Not therapy. Not a diary. A feedback loop that finally makes sense of the noise.
What Therma is. And isn't.
Therma is a self-awareness tool for people who already track their health and want the missing emotional layer. It integrates with Oura, Apple Health, and the wearables you use. It uses AI to surface patterns you'd never catch on your own. It produces a weekly insight that turns data into narrative.
Therma is not therapy and is not a substitute for professional care. It's not a chatbot pretending to be your friend. It's not a gamified habit tracker with a virtual pet. It's not a journaling app that gives you a blank page and hopes for the best.
It's a quieter place to check in. Built for people who want to understand themselves the way they understand their training, their sleep, and their work.
What we believe
- Steady beats dramatic. Small consistent reflection produces more change than rare deep dives.
- You did not fail at journaling. The apps failed you.
- Privacy is not a feature. It is the foundation. Your entries are end-to-end encrypted and yours alone.
- Honest naming reduces shame. Names make things workable.
- AI should reflect, not advise. The companion asks better questions, not gives prescriptive answers.
