When to choose which
Choose Therma
You want to understand why your sleep or mood is what it is, not just consume content to escape it. You already wear a sleep tracker (Oura, Apple Watch, Whoop) and want something that uses the data. You prefer brief daily habits over long content sessions.
Choose Calm
You want sleep stories to help you fall asleep. You want a guided meditation library you can pick from nightly. You like the calm, polished brand and audio production. You have employer-paid access.
Common questions
Will Therma help me sleep better than Calm?
Different mechanisms. Calm helps you fall asleep in the moment (sleep stories, ambient music). Therma helps you understand why your sleep is what it is over weeks (connecting sleep data to mood, behavior, hormone patterns). For acute "I cannot fall asleep tonight," Calm. For "my sleep has been off for a month and I do not know why," Therma.
Does Calm have mood tracking?
No. Calm is a content library, not a tracker. It does not record how you feel or measure progress. If you want a mood tracker that pairs with sleep content, you need both apps (or pick Therma, which includes the tracking and connects to your existing sleep data).
Is Calm covered by my insurance or employer?
Calm has expanded into B2B (Calm Health, Calm for Business). Many employers offer free Calm Premium as a benefit. Check your benefits portal. If your employer covers Calm, the price comparison is irrelevant.
Can I use both Calm and Therma?
Most people who try both end up keeping both. They solve different problems and the daily time commitment is small (60-second check-in for Therma, 10-minute meditation or sleep story for Calm). They do not overlap.
